A man who fled the Island five years ago is starting a prison sentence after returning to face justice.
Aidan Christopher Bainton of no fixed address appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse charged with assault causing actual bodily harm and breaching a probation order.
The court heard the 27 year old moved to Mexico in 2014 despite being on probation for an assault and being found guilty of further crimes in his absence.
He admitted breaching his bail and Bainton’s advocate told the court his client had settled down, got married and had children but had returned to the Island to tie up loose ends in his life.
Mrs Hughes said she accepted he was a different person than he’d been five years ago, jailing him for 10 weeks for assault, 20 weeks for causing actual bodily harm and 8 weeks for escaping lawful custody.
