A man who bit a doorman at the Villa Marina has been jailed for six months.
Carl Joseph Bridson, whose address was given as the Isle of Man Prison, appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
He’d denied being drunk and disorderly and assault on March 7, but was found guilty following a trial.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the hearing members of the public had complained to staff at the complex after Bridson was accused of drunkenly abusing a woman in the main hall.
But when a doorman spoke to the 44 year old he turned violent, hitting the man from behind before biting him during a tussle.
Magistrates said Bridson had an atrocious criminal record and told him biting door staff as they did their job was particularly unpleasant.
They jailed him for six months for the attack but imposed no separate penalty for being drunk and disorderly.
He was also ordered to pay £250 compensation to his victim and £1,340 in costs at the rate of £10 per week.
