A 40-year-old man who attacked a teenage boy came off second best after the youngster fought back, a court's heard.

Simon David Lomax of Demesne Road in Douglas appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.

He pleaded guilty to assaulting the boy on August 14 last year, being carried in a stolen van on August 25 and assaulting his girlfriend on March 6.

Prosecutor Barry Swain told the hearing Lomax was one of two men who attacked the 14 year old on Sidney Street in Douglas, but the boy fought back and threw him to the floor.

Last August, he was a passenger in a stolen van - its owner spotted it coming towards him on the New Castletown Road in Douglas and blocked it before getting out and calling police.

The court also heard a member of the public called police after seeing Lomax punching his girlfriend in the face as they walked along a road in Douglas.

Magistrates adjourned the case for probation reports and bailed Lomax in the sum of £500 with an 8pm to 8am curfew until he appears again for sentencing on April 21.
