Lower Victoria Street earmarked as new bus station site

Victoria Street in Douglas could become the location of the Island's new bus station.

The existing Lord Street bus station site is due to be developed meaning a new location needs to be sourced.

A number of areas within a 400 metre radius of the town centre were identified and examined, among them the plot next to Villiers Square, the Steam Packet buildings and a block of flats on Lord Street.

It was however the lower end of Victoria Street on the same side as RBS that was selected as the favourite location.

The Departments of Infrastructure and Community, Culture and Leisure have announced this afternoon that they're going to be consulting with the public over the plans and are seeking feedback.
