Local racer Gary Carswell was killed today following an incident at Jurby Motodrome.
The collision took place earlier this morning during the first practice session; he was taken to Nobles Hospital with serious injuries but lost his life despite the best efforts of the medical staff.
The Maughold man was a well known figure in local racing, competing in both the TT and Senior Manx Grand Prix, which he won in 1997.
An investigation into the incident is now under way.
The Andreas Racing Association has passed on their sincere condolences to Gary's wife, daughter, family and friends.
