Local man Frankie Horne received his MBE last week after being recognised on the Queen's Birthday Honours List earlier this year.
Mr Horne was presented his medal, which is for services to the RNLI and Safety at Sea, by the Lieutenant Governor at Government House.
He volunteered with the RNLI for almost 30 years, and is an accredited fishing safety instructor for UK organisation 'SeaFish.'
Mr Horne is also a committee member of the Fisherman's Mission on the Island, which supports local fishermen and their families in times of hardship.
