Commissioners in Garff have asked the clerk to look into allegation asbestos is leaking into waterways in Laxey.
At its last meeting, the local authority heard allegations footpaths in Laxey Glen were closed because of the chemical.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says it fenced off three routes because of unsafe paths.
The board heard a Freedom of Information request had been submitted and DEFA asked to clarify why the paths were closed.
