Sustainable measures are in place for the king scallop season, which begins tomorrow.
The daily catch limit per vessel will be 560kg at the start of the season and will be actively monitored - however, it will be reviewed after four weeks and is subject to change.
DEFA Minister Geoffrey Boot says ‘By building sustainable fisheries now, this economically important industry will continue into the future.’
A closure period during the festive season will be in place from Sunday, December 22 until Friday, January 3 2020.
