Kidnap suspects to be committed in February

A man from England who was allegedly at the centre of a kidnap attempt last year will not have to give evidence in court.

That was the decision made by Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse yesterday.

She ruled that the man, who has already provided a written statement and video interview, did not have to give oral evidence ahead of committal proceedings.

Four men, aged between 19 and 24, are currently remanded at the Isle of Man Prison charged with kidnapping after an incident on October 31st.

Abdul Ahad, from Burnley, and Muhammed Khan, Amman Sohail and Zishaan Sharif, from Bradford, are yet to enter pleas to the charge.

All four appeared in court where they were told committal proceedings will now take place on February 16th.

The case has been adjourned until that date - there were no applications for bail.
