A Douglas man has been jailed for six months after notching up his fifth conviction for driving whilst disqualified.
50-year-old Kevin Hughes was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse earlier this week - he was caught in McDonald's car park on Peel Road on April 7th.
His advocate told the court he'd taken the decision to drive to the fast food outlet in the early hours of the morning after seeing an advert on the television.
Police arrested him after noting he hadn't re-taken his test and was driving unsupervised and without displaying L-plates - he later pleaded guilty to having no tax or insurance and driving whilst disqualified.
Addressing the court Hughes' advocate said he had 'tried his best to turn his life around' since his release on licence from prison and was "angry at himself" for the consequences of his actions.
Passing sentence Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told him "you know full well the seriousness of driving whilst disqualified".
She sentenced him to three months immediate custody and ordered him to serve three months of his unexpired licence - he was also disqualified from driving for a further year.
