The Isle of Man’s beaches have not fared well in the latest Good Beach Guide findings.
Out of the 19 beaches they surveyed only Derbyhaven qualified for a Marine Conservation Society recommendation for bathing, 6 beaches failed to meet the minimum European Law standards.
In total the Marine Conservation Society recommended 461 beaches for excellent water quality across the UK.
Rachel Wyatt is the Coastal Pollution Officer for the Marine Conservation Society, she told 3FM that the Isle of Man ranked among the poorest performing regions that they published.

The Pollution Officer told 3FM she’d expect to see an improvement in the future now that the green light has been given to a major regional sewage treatment scheme.
