Inflation on the Island leapt up by two per cent last month, according to the latest government figures.
The consumer price index, which stood at 2.9 per cent in February, rose to 4.9 per cent in April.
Chief Minister Alf Cannan says the rise of almost 69 per cent in a single month is down to the economic effects of the war in Iran.
The biggest increases over the past 12 months are fuel oil - up 67 per cent - and petrol, which has risen by 23 per cent.
