Genetics study heading to the Island

A major scientific study to determine the differences in people’s genetic makeup is heading to the Isle of Man.

Operating under the title ‘People of the British Isles’ the study is using blood samples from over 4,500 people.

Once the samples have been collected they will be used to aid medical research and shed light on ancient migrations within the British Isles.

Professor Sir Walter Bodmer is the principal investigator for the study. He told us why they’ll be coming to the Island later this month:

The team will be on the Island on May 14th and will host a reception at the Broadway Baptist Church Hall between 6pm and 8pm - they’re appealing to as many people as possible to take part.
