Police say a man who was attacked in Ballasalla at the weekend remains in a serious condition in a UK hospital.
It follows a serious assault in the Clagh Vane area in the early hours of Sunday morning.
35-year-old David Mitchell who is from the village has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Mr Mitchell has been remanded in Jurby prison until his next court appearance on Tuesday next week.
