Fuel spillages caused 25 accidents in 5 years

In the last five years 25 vehicles have been involved in accidents where fuel on the road has been a contributory factor.

The Road Safety Team and police are running a joint campaign to reduce the amounts of incidents caused by fuel spills on the Island's roads.

Letters with tank stickers are being sent to commercial vehicle operators across the Island and the Road Safety Team are going to visit the Island's filling stations to enhance public awareness.

If your vehicle leaks fuel you can be fined up to £1000 for private vehicle drivers and £2500 for commercial vehicles.
