Passengers who are due to fly to Blackpool have been advised to contact Citywing after the news the airport is closing.
In a statement released yesterday the owners confirmed there was no option other than to shut after years of making a loss.
Citywing, which operates daily flights to Blackpool, has yet to respond to the news.
The airport is due to stay open until October 15th with operations set to continue as normal until this time.
