The Fire and Rescue Service says it dealt with two fires in the wild yesterday.
Crews were called to a smouldering fire at Stoney Mountain Plantation, with an unknown cause.
The emergency service adds it was lucky this was found and reported by a member of the public, otherwise it could have proved far more serious.
Meanwhile on Sunday, firefighters were also called to a beach fire at Derbyhaven, thought to have been started by youths.
