MLC Dudley Butt last night resigned from his post in the Department of Education and Children, following a heated exchange in Tynwald.
The MLC was objecting to the latest developments within the Department which has seen government funded nurseries and libraries closed in an effort to claw back funds.
He implied the blame should lie with Minister Peter Karran after members had fought for these changes not to be implemented.
Over a hundred protestors made their presence known outside Tynwald yesterday, looking to bring about a decision reversal, head of the group Amy Burns will today be meeting with the Minister for an update on the situation.
In his budget speech Minister Karran told Tynwald that his Department's plans to expand provision when resources and opportunities are available, will not be achieved in the foreseeable future and current financial climate.
