Drivers with PPV licences sought to cover during bus strikes

The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure is appealing for anyone with a PPV licence to come forward.

Bus drivers are set to go on strike for three days next week starting from Thursday.

Contingency plans in place include using the steam railway and electric railway instead.

In addition the department wants to recruit casual staff to help on the bus routes which will be running to a Sunday schedule.

Any Manx workers who have a valid PPV licence and who are available to work during the strike period have been asked to come forward.

DCCL Chief Executive, Nick Black told us that they will be fast tracking anyone with the eligible documents in order to have them ready to cover from the 20th.
