Douglas parking issues highlighted

Douglas is the Manx town in most need of extra parking - that’s the result of recent consultation, which examined parking issues around the Island.

The capital finished ahead of Peel, Castletown and Ramsey in that order.

The study also found that a large number of the public wants to see the removal of commercial and large vehicles from residential roads.

There was also issues surrounding a lack of disabled parking - but a ‘park and ride’ scheme would be welcomed by most people.

Infrastructure Minister David Cretney said his department would start examining solutions in a quick and cost-effective way and suggest legislation in due course.

It plans to work closely with the likes of the Police, Bus Vannin and the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure in making its decisions.
