Dog owners to be charged more for stray pets

Pet owners will be charged more if their dog strays - under new plans which are awaiting Tynwald approval.

It costs between £100 and £140 for a dog to be picked up, kenneled, cared for and returned home - however currently owners are only being charged £12 a day. 
 
Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Richard Ronan says things need to change: 
 
 
From April this will increase by £10 - if a dog then strays again within the year an additional bill of £25 will be issued.
