Disruption expected for Douglas motorists

Motorists traveling in and out of Douglas face disruption today as major road works start on the New Castletown Road.

Haven Homes is laying a new sewer connection to the Pulrose Farm site on the approach to Quarterbridge which entails excavating a three-metre deep trench across the road.

The road will be closed between Cooil Road and Annacur Lane for five days and motorists will be diverted via Kewaigue and South Quay or along Saddle Road and Vicarage Road.

Director of Highways Richard Pearson said the complete road closure was a necessity (see audio).
