Bruce Hannay Defends £80,000 Traffic Controlling Scheme
Castletown has become the first place on the island to receive rising bollards, at a cost that has led to the public questioning the need for them.
The inclusion of the bollars in three key areas of Castletown comes at a cost of £80,000.
They are in place to protect areas in need of traffic controlling, where pedestrians have in some cases up until now been directly on the street after exiting shops, putting themselves at risk to passing vehicles.
The main focus of the criticism from the public is targeted at the schemes price tag.
Director of Highways Bruce Hannay had this to say about the scheme to any of the cynics.
