The Department of Education, Sport and Culture is looking for a new chief executive after Professor Ronald Barr stepped down today.
He'd held the top at the department for seven years and had previously been principal of University College Isle of Man.
He says after more than 13 years working in education on the Island, it's time for a change.
Education Minister Dr Alex Allinson MHK has thanked him for his dedication and commitment and wished him the best for the future.
