The government's Housing and Communities Board is still considering whether to go ahead with a rent-to-buy scheme.
That's according to chair David Ashford, answering a Tynwald question for written reply from Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas.
Mr Ashford says the impact on the housing market of any scheme would have to be carefully assessed, with tests currently being carried out.
He added it's hoped a decision on how the scheme will be provided will be made in March.
