A union representing over 60 per cent of teachers on Island has agreed a deal in principle with the government over teachers pay.
The National Education Union (NEU) struck the agreement following 'positive talks' with the Department of Education and Manx Industrial Relations Service (MIRS) on Wednesday.
The deal means Isle of Man teachers would move to the London Fringe Area pay range from September 1 with the starting salary for new teachers to rise from just over £24,000 to around £30,000.
The NEU will now consult its members on the proposals - Education Minister, Graham Cregeen MHK, says he hopes it will 'help support our valued existing teachers'.
