DAFF Issue Seal Pup Warning
The Department of Agriculture Forestry’s and Fisheries have issued a statement warning walkers and beach users to keep clear of seal pups.
The baby seals can often be found on beaches around this time of year while their mothers hunt for food, its commonplace for them to be left for several hours.
It’s feared that
if people approach, handle or pick up one of the pups it could cause the mother
distress and she may abandon her young.
