Onchan commissioners say they're on the lookout for land and properties to meet the district's housing needs.
After a board meeting last month, the local authority said it would look at buying larger buildings to convert into apartments.
It's now encouraging landowners to get in touch if they have land to sell that could be used to build social housing.
The board's also backed moves to use compulsory purchase powers where necessary.
