Clerk of the course apologises unreservedly for telling Marshals to 'stop whingeing'

The Clerk of the TT course has apologised after a comment he made was met with uproar from Marshals.

Some marshal's raised the issue that they weren't able to leave the TT course for hours after racing finished.

Eddie Nelson was heard over the race communication system to say stop whingeing; the comments caused outrage amongst some of the volunteers, resulting in a number of them wanting to quit.

In a statement from the TT Press Office the clerk of the course said he wishes to 'apologise unreservedly' for the comment he made, saying he 'regrets it greatly' and it was 'made in the heat of the moment'.

Chief Marshal Terry Holmes says he was greatly disappointed by the comments but he commended Mr Nelson having the guts to make a full and honest apology.

He's said he is hopeful the apology will alleviate the issues that arose as a result of his remarks.

Before every practice and race goes ahead 500 marshals are need around the course, without them the races couldn't go ahead.
