Chief Minister questions island shopping quality

The new Dealz store in Strand Street in Douglas opens for business today - but isn\'t exactly everyone\'s cup of tea.

The store, which is located at the former Woolworth’s site in the centre of the town, has been at the centre of much speculation over recent weeks.

For a long time it was strongly rumoured the popular Topshop could be moving in to the bigger building, but management of the clothes chain confirmed to 3FM last month this would no longer be the case.

It was then speculated discount mega-chain Poundland would be opening shop there and this week the company confirmed its spin-off store Dealz would indeed be opening this weekend.

Dealz stores were opened in Ireland by Poundland earlier this year and have already enjoyed much success.

However, this has started to beg serious questions surrounding he quality of shopping in the Isle of Man, which was echoed by the Chief Minister Allan Bell who spoke to 3FM (see audio).
