Chico and Rita loses out at Oscars

It looks like the Isle of Man will have to wait a little longer to have a home grown film triumph at the Oscar Awards.

Cuban animated film Chico and Rita came tantalisingly close overnight at the awards ceremony in LA, losing out to big budget production Rango, featuring the voice of Johnny Depp.

The CinemaNX production won numerous accolades during the European film awards season, standing out from the crowd due to its traditional hand drawn animation.

The success of Rango brought to an end the 4 year tradition of Pixar's domination of the category.
