Capital absorbs regeneration fund

Douglas has so far had 10 times more spent on it from the regeneration fund than Peel.

The Chief Minister confirmed this in the House of Keys on Tuesday morning after being questioned by Rushen MHK Laurence Skelly.

Allan Bell said the total amount pumped into the capital is almost one-third of a million pounds, compared to just over £31,000 in the Sunset City.

Ramsey was the other big recipient with £212,000 so far invested.

However, the likes of Laxey and Castletown have received less than £30,000 of more than £650,000 so far invested.

The total pot for the project is £8million, of which £1.757m has been allocated.

In the current allocation, Ramsey will enjoy a total of almost £441,000, Douglas’s amount will increase to just less than £790,000 and Castletown’s funds will be boosted significantly to £177,000.
