Bus drivers vote in favour of 12-day TT strike

Bus drivers will hold a 12-day strike starting at midnight after voting definitively on the issue this afternoon.

The latest offer from the DCCL saw 56 drivers vote against it with 18 in favour and two spoilt papers.

It had been hoped the strike could have been avoided after being announced seven days ago.

A reduced bus service will run over the TT period and would have remained in place even if drivers had voted not to strike.

The dispute between the department and the drivers has now been ongoing for more than a year.

Minister Graham Cregeen said they finally thought they had tabled an offer that would be accepted by the drivers:
