Bereavement payments may soon be extended to cohabiting partners with children.
If approved by Tynwald, payments could also go to people who were not married or in a civil partnership but who lived together and had dependent children.
Changes would be backdated to August 30 2018 and include expectant mothers.
It comes following recent changes to legislation in the UK.
