Ben-my-Chree to wait till April for repairs

Infrastructure Minister David Cretney has revealed that the Ben My Chree will have to wait until it goes into dry dock in April before it has essential repairs.

A damaged bow thruster had to be removed earlier in the year after ingesting debris.

Numerous dry docking appointments were made and subsequently cancelled as equipment manufacturers Wartsila failed to meet its delivery date on returning the repaired thruster.

Chief Executive Mark Woodward has said they've been badly let down by the manufacturer.

Asides from this issue the Steam Packet have confirmed there are no more underlying problems that need taking care of.

The vessel has had to cancel and reschedule numerous crossings in the past few weeks due to the high winds, however to date this year they've operated with a 98.6% reliability rate.
