30 Students Will Sleep Rough Tonight to Raise Money for Homeless Charity
In an effort to raise money and awareness for local homeless charity Kemmyrk students from Ballakermeen High School will be sleeping rough tonight.
More than 30 of the students will be sleeping in the school grounds in 2-hour shifts, with a soup kitchen on hand to help them through the cold night.
In just under a year Kemmyrk has helped over 350 people who have found themselves homeless on the Island, with the most common age group between 16 and 25.
Sixth Form student Lucy Francis has had a major role in organising the sleep out, she said as important as the fund raising aspect she is keen to make more people aware that the Island does actually have an ever-increasing homeless problem.
