A man who drunkenly punched an off-duty police officer will be sentenced in February.
Kieran Michael Cain of Farrant’s Way in Castletown appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to assault and being drunk and disorderly on Ballaquayle Road in Douglas on October 24.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing members of the public contacted police after spotting Cain walking along Glencrutchery Road at 3pm, kicking bins and throwing gravel at traffic.
But when an off-duty officer stopped and spoke to him, Cain punched him in the face before being restrained and arrested.
Mrs Hughes bailed him in the sum of £500 while pre-sentencing reports are prepared, and he’ll appear in court again on February 1.
