Assessment commissioned for Disability Act

The Isle of Man is another step closer to introducing the Disability Discrimination Act.

The Department of Social care has commissioned Sight and Sound Ltd to undertake the economic impact assessment necessary for the introduction of the Act.

The law would give greater rights and opportunities to people with disabilities.

A key meeting was held on Thursday, which was well attended by key organisations across the public and private sectors.

Minister Chris Robertshaw said the government is "committed” to introducing the law and a timescale for legislation will be decided after the assessment.
