Approval is now being sought to create a new supermarket in Ballasalla.
Proposals have been put forward to create a Winerite store at the vacant site of the old Whitestone car showroom on Douglas Road.
IOM Enterprises Plc group - which owns the Winerite brand - stated back in January they'd been approached informally by a number of local residents who suggested they'd welcome another neighbourhood food store to avoid travelling out of town for supplies.
The organisation added a neighbourhood outlet will allow people the freedom to shop in their local community and invest in locally-sourced products.
