Methodist Church ‘surprised and disappointed’ at comments about Ballafesson closure

The Methodist Church on the Isle of Man says it’s ‘surprised and disappointed’ to hear the comments made about the closure of Ballafesson Hall.

The Ballafesson Community Club says it has been ‘left in a limbo’ following the announcement but has chosen not to ‘run away’ from the issue.

Volunteers believed they had a year 'from June' to save the building from closure but it’s understood it’s now being put up for sale in October.

The church says a decision was made to have a period of time for prayer, discussion and consultation with members of the chapel and community about its future.

It adds this took place over two years and in March a meeting was held, which was attended by some members of the hall committee, where it agreed to sell.

The Methodist Circuit says it has had ‘regular meetings’ with the hall committee and has always been transparent about processes and timescales.
