We’ve been speaking to the Deputy Chief Ambulance Officer Russell Thornhill as race week fast approaches to see how the road closures affect their emergency work.
While races and practices are on the Mountain circuit closed with back roads used as diversions, which inevitably make journeys longer.
According to Russell there have been issues in the past with Emergency services getting to the scene as fast as possible, but this has since been taken care of due to an airborne addition to the Ambulance fleet.
He said that is a great contributor to their work during the biking fortnight.
