To mark the centenary of the Parish Walk next year a special event will be staged which will echo the first ever walk, back in 1913.
A team of horse riders will cover the route the week prior to the walk, in tribute to a Douglas Chemist who completed the full 85 miles on horseback all those years ago.
John Young was 62 years old at the time; his great grandson Graham Young actually went onto become a Parish Walk winner.
The horse riders will be looking to complete the route in about 14 hours.
They’ll be setting off on the Sunday morning before the walk, in an effort to keep disruption and congestion down to a minimum.
