£750,000 is acceptable for welfare reform consultation

£750,000 is an acceptable amount to spend on easing the state pension and benefits burden.

That's according to the director of social security Ross Stephens: 
 
 
Consultants Ci65 have made recommendations for reform following the discovery of outdated systems wrongly based on UK policies. 
 
It includes simplifying how National Insurance is calculated, and introducing a single Manx benefit to support both workers and the unemployed. 
 
Mr Stephens helped to write the report - he's hoping Tynwald will approve the changes this month:
