A man who headbutted a barman in a Douglas pub has avoided a jail sentence.
Craig Phillip Teare of Princes Avenue in Douglas appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 33 year old admitted the assault March 23 and stealing from WH Smiths in Douglas on April 13.
The court heard Teare hadn't seriously injured the barman in the attack and had since given up drinking.
He went into WH Smiths and looked directly at CCTV cameras as he stole a £400 pair of headphones in what was described as a "ridiculous" offence.
His advocate told the court Teare had since returned all the items he'd taken.
Mrs Hughes said she was giving him an opportunity to turn his life around, and sentenced him to 120 hours of community service and a year's probation.
He was also banned from licensed premises for 12 months, ordered to pay £250 and £125 costs.
