Foundation thanks fishermen after accidental shark catch

The Manx Shark Foundation is thanking anglers for playing an important role in its research, after a fisherman accidentally caught an endangered species.

Mark Quirk contacted the organisation when he hooked a tope shark while fishing on Ramsey Pier.

It allowed the fish to be tagged as part of a Manx Wildlife Trust programme before being released back out to sea.

MSF adds you don't have to worry about swimming in Ramsey Bay, as tope sharks are naturally shy creatures.
