20 pence charge to use newly built public toilets in Douglas

3 new public convenience sites around Douglas as part of £200,000 development

The Douglas Borough Council has completed the installation of new public conveniences at three sites along Douglas promenade.

They’re located adjacent to the Terminus Tavern at Derby Castle, by the children’s play area and alongside the Bottleneck car park on Loch Promenade.

The works are the continuation of a toilet upgrade programme that started in Douglas Market Hall, the scheme on a whole is costing £200,000.

Cleaning costs will be offset by a 20pence charge to use the facilities; the existing facilities in Market Hall generate £250 revenue per month.

Council Leader David Christian has said, these new public conveniences complement the regeneration of Douglas town centre, a scheme in which the Council is playing a key role and committing substantial funds towards a new-look Douglas that will act as a catalyst for sustained future economic growth.
