The Island now has 126 suspected cases of the Omicron variant, equating to 21% of total active cases.
These figures are from Mark Lewin, who is leading the government’s Covid response, who adds the variant appears to be much more transmissible.
Chief Minister Alfred Cannan says we should plan for potentially thousands of cases at one time, and highly recommends going for a booster vaccine as it is proven to be effective.
Mr Cannan adds that the current booster vaccine programme is working towards 90% of eligible adults being vaccinated by mid-January, with 2,200 people receiving jabs today alone.
