Resurfacing work in Sulby has been paused as the Department of Infrastructure focuses on the Mountain Road.
It comes as rockfall has affected the road at Lhergy Frissell, and further work needs to be done before it can be re-opened to the public.
The Mountain Road is currently still closed between Ramsey and the Bungalow, with an update expected this weekend.
The department says to open the route as soon as possible, work at Sulby will be paused to allow the team to relocate.
Sulby Straight will remain open to two way traffic under temporary traffic lights while work is on hold.
