The Department of Infrastructure says it doesn't have any responsibility for cleaning up seaweed.
Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall was asked in House of Keys this week by Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse about it.
Mr Moorhouse wanted to know who removes excess seaweed from harbours and beach areas, if not local authorities.
The minister spoke about how it's managed instead:
Closure on one of town's main streets next week
Less than a third of Island's land formally registered
Car crash blocks road near Ballasalla
Specialist contractors needed to help with harbour dredging
Former hotel up for sale
Department of Health and Social Care to raise some fees
Don't forget passport for Irish travel, reminds hotel
