The Department of Infrastructure says it doesn't have any responsibility for cleaning up seaweed.
Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall was asked in House of Keys this week by Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse about it.
Mr Moorhouse wanted to know who removes excess seaweed from harbours and beach areas, if not local authorities.
