The Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority have expressed their dissapointment at the findings of the Good Beach Guide issued by the Marine Conservation Society.
The MCS claimed that the IRIS Sewage Treatment Plant at Meary Veg has not been delivering the bathing water improvements expected of a facility costing £170 million.
The authority has responded to those comments branding them inaccurate.
To begin with they say the plant has only cost £88 million to date, they also say all of the beaches in the South bar one connected to the IRIS system reached the recommended bathing water quality standards.
They say so far the IRIS scheme is working well and they expect to see improvements around the remainder of the Island as the scheme progresses.
